At Mannington, we believe in “doing the right thing” by supporting local communities. Habitat for Humanity, in particular, is a partnership that’s grown over the last several years. As a company, we’ve found a unique way to help Habitat that also benefits the environment—by donating flooring used our trade show booths and for new product photo shoots that, otherwise, may have been discarded and ended up in a landfill.
Recently, Mannington donated over 20,000 square feet of flooring to two Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
Over 16,000 square feet of flooring, including Tapestry luxury sheet vinyl,
ADURA®Max APEX Chart House vinyl plank,
Restoration® Collection Hillside Hickory
Carriage Oak hardwoods went to the Greater Greensboro, North Carolina, Habitat for Humanity ReStore. This flooring, used for a marketing photo shoot, was like new but couldn’t be sold at retail because it had been temporarily used in the room set for the photo shoot. Founded in 1987, Habitat Greensboro builds about ten homes annually; and its ReStore opened in 2000.
“What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas” rings true when it comes to the flooring in our Surfaces trade show booth at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. This year, the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity ReStore received about 4,000 square feet of like new laminate, hardwood and commercial carpet that had been used in our booth. Founded in 1991, Habitat for Humanity of Las Vegas builds single family homes throughout Clark County for working families earning less than 80% of area median income. Its first ReStore opened in 2007, followed by a second one in 2010.
We’re delighted to help local communities by partnering with Habitat ReStores in this way. The flooring we donate is first-quality and, for all intents and purposes, is brand new. In Habitat ReStores, homeowners can purchase the at a significant discount, with the proceeds going to this worthy cause. This also helps the environment by diverting flooring from landfills. It’s a win for everyone involved.
Like Habitat for Humanity, we aspire for the world to be a place where everyone has a place to call home. And for a world that’s more eco-friendly, too.
